To reach the trailhead, drive 19 miles south from Leadville on Hwy 24 to the turn off for CR 390, which becomes FR 120. Follow this road west to the old town of Winfield. From there, take the road out of the north west part of town, (390A) past an old grave yard to the end of the road.

Accidentally left a full pack of gear after dark near the trailhead after search and rescue got our friend life flighted from Denver after falling in a Boulder slide. Red Deuter pack, hiking poles, life straw filter, camelbak bladder, jet boil stove, and some other gear in it. 816 729 7213 hoping for a miracle if anyone sees it out there!
