Great hike! Steep in the beginning but worth it. Great tree cover throughout and crossed over some water, so was great to help keep my pup from getting too hot. Got there early ish (7) on a Saturday and parking lot and trail were mostly empty.

Terrific loop. We had our two Golden Retrievers with us. We brought water for them but they also found a few good creeks to get into. Parked at Ole Barn Knoll for the round trip. Interesting, scenic, wonderful wild flowers!

Nice hike, nothing hard or exciting. Take Mule Dear whole way. Another day I cut across Coyote instead of looping all the way down and actually enjoyed it more. Trail guide from Golden Gate Canyon says it's only a 7.5 mile loop and since it only took me 2 hours today that seems like it could be.

Hiked this Sunday. Parked at Ole Barn Knoll parking lot. It is called Mule Deer the whole way. Steep in the beginning and again one other time. Therefore I fee it is moderate difficulty. There is an overlook deck to look at the continental divide. Advice: to resume on Mule Deer Trail after stopping at the overlook go down in front of the deck to find the trail again. 3 groups were wandering around for 10 minutes trying to find it. Perfect trail with some challenges, lovely rewarding view, and some flat areas.

Beautiful! Be aware that it's $7 for a day pass and the visitor center doesn't open until 9 am. I followed signs for Mule Deer Trail the whole way. Cooler temperatures, but I was fine in shorts/tshirts and no snow or wet spots as of mid May!

Great hike! Make sure you bring $7 for pay station and are ready to hike close to 10 miles. There are beautiful views near panorama point and it was pretty hot on a mid 70's day. Sunscreen it up! :D enjoy!

We did a run on this trail yesterday. More people around 11 but it was pretty clear otherwise. Somewhat steep hill up that opens to a beautiful meadow. Lots of leaves already dead and falling. Probably good for colors for just a few more days.
