Description
Waypoints (0)

This is the most direct route to the summit, and perhaps less used and less popular compared to Mount Sanitas and Sanitas Valley Loop, and Mount Sanitas Peak Trail. It is quick and steady, with less elevation gain than the other two trails due to its closer start point (see map). Highlights include rock scrambling (if desired), a steady ascent, projected outcrops, rolling meadows, and vistas of Boulder CO. Parking is limited compared to the other two trailheads.

Awesome hike! Beautiful view with a few challenging parts but noting too hard. Ca 2 hours. We recommend to go against clockwise.

Definitely a good idea to start with Mt Sanitas trail and then descend into the valley trail. Pretty much full exposure for the last mile of the valley. Found a Subaru key w/ green carabiner at the bottom of the valley trail and clipped it on to the trail map/info!

Hard as hell but nice. It was easy to loose the trail aiming down from the peak on the East rim

This was a great trail for moderate hikers or fairly active individuals. The trail was well kept, dogs behaved, and friendly people. It took us around 2 hours to complete. There was fairly heavy foot traffic at 7am when we started, but not too crowded at all! The views were amazing, we will be back!

This trail is really hard and not for the faint of heart. Bring lots of water and start early!

Hiked this on a Friday morning in late June. More crowded than I like, but the temperature was low for a summer day and I wanted to take advantage of it. Took Mt Sanitas up and East Ridge to Sanitas Valley back down. Views of Boulder up top, which isn’t really my thing. So I’d say you do this hike for the navigation of the rocks experience, which is great, esp on East Ridge. I didn’t find the signs with arrows as helpful as blazes would have been. I wasn’t looking forward to the Sanitas Valley portion of the hike, but being in that valley and looking up was beautiful. Lots of dragonflies on the trails. Also butterflies.

Nice shorter hike. Accidentally left my tracker on while driving home so didn’t take that long. Steep for sure, a good workout. Looks out onto Boulder
