This in-out hike is a portion of the more popular Mt. Sanitas & Sanitas Valley Loop. It is the more rugged and quicker route to the summit. Highlights include rock scrambling (if desired), a steady ascent, projected outcrops, and a "desert-like" baked earth terrain. When the parking lot is full, designated roadside parking is allowed.

Awesome, fun hike! Quick workout. Good lung-burner. Beautiful views of Boulder and all the different colored trees. We went for a sunset-ish hike and parking was a nightmare, though. Had to wait around until someone left to park!

A perfect morning hike. Late start at 8:45 AM yielded a great parking spot! Nice on a weekday AM.

Did this trail this morning. Great views! The beginning is a lot of climbing. And the summit honestly seemed forever away at one point but I think that’s because I live on the east coast haha. Great workout. Took 3 hours (again east coaster, who doesn’t hike often). You are able to make it a loop with the valley trail, little over 3 miles.

Nice trail to get your heart rate up quickly and get to the top of Sanitas quicker than the full loop. We had our fluffy pup with us so turned around early as it was a bit hot for him and carrying him down isn’t an option for us as he is 80 lbs

I forgot to start recording until midway on the red rock trail, somehow I switched trails and finished on the Lion’s Lair trail. Both are good trails well maintained. Red Rock was easy, but lions lair was considerably harder especially going counterclockwise ( recommend trekking pole) Views from on top of Lion’s Lair are worth the hike. Two thumbs up!!!

Was a beauty walk up to red rock! Then through that and over into Sanitas. A difficult walk to the top but the peak is wonderful! Check it out

Hiked in late August, quite a treat for such a short route. Great views of course, and the ascent can be an hour at a good pace. Hot as hell...bring lots of water!!

Great trail! Did the loop clockwise and that was much more enjoyable. Saw hang gliders at the top.

Good little workout, but watch out for all the other hikers and people running on this trail. Nice views on both sides of the peak. Little to no shade, so be prepared for sun!!

Hiked this trail around 9am and it was hot. Not much shade on this trail, so plan accordingly. Even after living in Boulder for 5 months and regularly hiking, this trail was tough. Basically rock steps all the way to the top and super steep. Thought I was going to throw up a couple times. A good trail to get you in shape fairly quickly. Great views of Boulder from the top. I’m not sure I would choose to do this torture to myself again unless someone wanted me to do it with them. Reminded me of Manitou Incline in the springs, if you’ve ever done that

Good hike, 1.5 hours round trip. Met a lot of nice dogs along the way.

Hiked 7/14/19. This is a nice, close hike. The trailhead is located right in Boulder, so no driving to the mountains for this one. It has nice views overlooking Boulder. I thought it was fairly easy and not overly crowded like I had expected.

As a fellow dog owner, for the love of god people, please pick up after your dog. The entire trail was riddled with poo and (old) poo bags, and smelled like feces. Otherwise a fantastic hike.

Hot! And it’s “only” 85 degrees this afternoon. Now I remember why I usually do this early in the morning. Still fun though.

Great little hike. Even has a few wildflowers blooming now (5/31). Kind of crowded though.
