Bring Spikes! I saw a group just sliding down the trail and having to go off trail because it was easier than walking on ice. And they were wearing regular tennies. My pup slipped a bit. Beautiful views still.

Had a great morning hike. A bit of snow & ice but overall it was beautiful weather on the Mountain.

The trail was icy in parts but no problem with micro spikes. It’s a beautiful route. Recommend taking the time to enjoy it vs just sprinting through

Crampons. Microspikes. Insulated water bottle to KEEP it from freezing. Not typically things in a Floridians lexicon. Had read the reviews days before... there was far more ice than I’d anticipated. Made for an adventure, but should have been more prepared. Good views, elevation no problems, tons of deer, light snow on the mountain always attractive to a southerner. My 14yo swears she still loves me, even though she kinda thought there for a while I maybe was trying to get her killed on the ice. Probably just wants more Xmas gifts....

Hiked Thanksgiving morning (11/28/19). The parking lot has been nicely plowed! This is a basic (and kind of boring) foothills hike in summer, but the snow makes it magical!! I hiked it with microspikes and poles. There are portions of the Galbraith Loop where snowshoes would have been better- I would sink and slide a bit so I was very happy to have poles to help with balance. The trails were easy to find (thanks to those who hiked/snowshoed before me) so no concerns about going off trail. Perfect winter hike :)

Nice hike and a little snowy and icy. Probably 15 percent of the trail had a little snow but most people were just wearing hiking boots and no spikes. Nice hike for a quick trip from Denver. Saw a rattlesnake on the trail on the way back.

Good, easy trail. 4.5 miles. Little icy going up.
