Hiked in August- My first 14er! Did not disappoint. Scramble a bit at the summit but awesome views! Lots of wildflowers whenever I went. I started around 6:30am and finished about 1:30pm.

Windy at top, prepare for extreme cold (layers) caught sunrise at top and it was gorgeous

Great hike, perfect conditions, little windy at the top. suggest snowshoes and micro spikes. Hiked 12/31, clocked around 10 miles.

12/21/19- we were able summit thanks to great weather. For a winter climb, Take Guanella Pass Road south from Georgetown until it is no longer plowed (you'll know when you're there!). Ample parking available- then walk along the road 1.5 miles to the trailhead. We only used micro spikes for traction but experienced a fair amount of postholing. Would recommend either skis or snowshoes for flotation. Including the walk along the road and many stops for snacks and pics, we took 8 hrs round trip.

Just did the first half today 11/17 and was a gorgeous day. Not very windy and even got hot on the way up. Definitely bring traction as there is a lot of ice, snow and some muddy spots at the bottom. Had the mountain to myself w the pup. Perfect Sunday!

Wasn’t bad for November. Spikes and poles helpful. Layers. 40mph winds?

As of 11/16: Cold, windy, and icy in areas so bring layers and microspikes. Our water froze (rookie mistake) use an insulated hose, blow the water back through the tube, and if using bottles turn them upside down in your pack so that the bottom freezes first. Was beautiful, and not very crowded- had the trail to ourselves much of the time. Clocked it at 7.5 miles and took us 4 hours and 45 minutes with a few breaks.

Climbed today road to parking lot to trailhead good. Trail good icy in willows above tree line soft snow great footing. Top I usually scramble left but there is a great path along the ridge made the last 200 yards much easier. That being said I was 1 hour slower than summer climbs. I saw 5 people all day so was the best of my 10 summits of beirstat

Completed this hike on 11/10/2019. Road to the trailhead had a few spots with ice in corners, so drive carefully. Still accessible by any type of vehicle. Trail was a mix of exposed dirt, compacted snow, and heavily compacted snow/ice. We brought micro-spikes and wore them for approximately 2/3rds of the trail. Could have made it without them but it would have been slippery and more challenging. The microspikes were the perfect tool for the conditions. Conditions on the sawtooth did not look bad, but we did not have time that day to cross over it.

Did this on Nov 9,2019. 95% of the trail is packed snow. easy to find/follow, but I would recommend spikes to keep from slipping. mid day sunshine melts the very top layer and then refreezes...making it slick. generally speaking an easy incline...until the very top which is covered in boulders. awesome view, but winter is settling in so be prepared for more snow!
