was a great trail! we saw only three other hikers until the spruce tree trail portion. We ended up hiking it 'backwards' and deciding that Pacific peak was a bit too sketchy with the amount of snow and steep grade so we opted to head over and catch father dire peak. If you want to continue this trail loop, there is no trail down that side of father dire but it was doable to just head down the side. Still a few snow field crossings but nothing too crazy. Was just as challenging if not more so than the 14ers I have done!

Hiked an alternative to this route on 7/28/19. The route up to Crystal Peak is fairly straightforward (leaving on the Crystal trail) with some class 2 scrambling to the summit. However, the alltrails route as shown suggests you cross a ridgeline between Crystal and Pacific that is at least a difficult class 2 or class 3 (this isn't a listed route up Pacific on 14ers.com but the standard routes are rated difficult class 2 and 3) then coming down another difficult class 2 route to Mohawk lakes. I had my dog with me and thought it looked too sketch. As an alternative, you can return to the saddle between Crystal and Peak 10 then head up the ridge to Peak 10. From the summit you can continue down Peak 10's east ridge a little ways til you meet up with the Wheeler Trail. That will take you back to the Crystal Trail to form a loop.

Great hike up to Continental Falls, and then keep up the effort to get to the Mohawk Lakes. Can do sort of a loop - on the way up, take the trail through the woods to the waterworks. On the way back, take the road. Fairly crowded to the Falls, much less so to the lakes
