Take a walk past historic mines on Prospect and Mineral Hills and the remains of an old gold dredge. An exhibit of a concentration mill jig explains how miners sorted the rocks and settled out the valuable minerals. The golden aspen make this hike a real treat in autumn. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing is allowed during winter months.

Great easy hike to get acclimated. Only saw bikers, no other hikers. Not many Mountain views, but the trees are wonderful.

Easy hike through the woods with several interesting old abandoned mines to see and a handful of surprising vistas. Great mix of ease (I make a point of this as I am older and live a sedentary lifestyle near sea level), historically significant sites, and beautiful vistas.

Great tune up trail. Easy trail with good views on the first 20 minutes. Finishes along road to parking lot.

Easy hike to get used to altitude. Cool ruins. Mostly bikers on trail. Very fun!

Great trail with cool old mine remnants. Boyfriend mountain biked while I hiked. Definitely more mountain bikers than hikers the day we went. Knocked off a star as trail markings can be very confusing. Couldn’t really tell where the trail actually ended, and we ended up coming out at the road rather than the parking lot. Probably my own errors though and not the trail’s.

Nice trail, be sure to stick to the right when heading in so you get to face the mountains on your ascent.

Beautiful trail to see the aspens changing. We loved being able to see all of the old mining history, as well as appreciated the readings along the trail. 4 stars because it was quite short and not the best views of the mountains.

Amazing

Done a lot of mining trails and this one has the nicest views of surrounding mountains. Plus the path is forested for most of the way.

We hiked this trail, which leads into a network of other trails. it was snow packed. I work hiking shoes and my husband wore trail runners with yak tracks. Great sunny trail with good about of foot and bike traffic. Lots of little mining shacks along the way.

Started at the Reiling Dredge Trailhead and went up the Minnie Mine Trail on to the Sidedoor trail and the back to the parking lot on an unmarked trail. 2 miles and 450' elevation. Great little trail with many mining ruins. Lots of trails zig zagging through area so be sure to look at map. Great views of town and ski hill. Good with dog and kids.

Fun hike with historic remnants of area mining operations. Wish I was going to be here in a few weeks to do this hike when all the Aspen change colors. Enjoyed the occasional gorgeous views of the surrounding mountains.
