Description
Waypoints (0)

Partially shaded lollipop loop through part of Miller Gulch and Gashouse Gulch. There are lots of big boulders near the trail that make for a nice spot to rest and take in the views. The hike is more of a long hike instead of a strenuous hike without that much elevation gain. There is a parking lot about a half mile from the trailhead on Eos Mill Road. The trail is also open to mountain bikers.

Showed up around 8:15 on a Saturday morning and we were the only car in the lot. Pretty easy trail, think it’s probably only rated as moderate because of the length but there’s not a lot of incline. Super quiet trail. Saw one biker and 3 total hikers besides my husband, dog, and I. Trails are wide so there’s plenty of room for everyone. Some shaded areas and pretty scenery. Was a perfect trail for us to train our rescue pup and was a semi easy hike for my 8 month pregnant self!

July 4th, 2020 Arrived at sunrise, first car in lot. First off, the distance is not accurate on this App which states 9.5 miles. It was 11.3 miles - we used this App & a separate GPS to track our hike. Beautiful scenery, skill level beginner. Enjoyed for an easy morning hike.

Nice trail, but go early because it gets HOT in the burn area in the sun. Also, tons of bikes which is a hassle especially if you're hiking with a dog like we did.

Amazing day. About 12-20 bikers out today and only 2 fellow hikers with their dog. Nice cool breeze and some cloud cover towards the end. Pups got their fill as did I. Went counterclockwise and made the mistake of going down to south buffalo creek road but that’s where the creek is so I refilled some water and let the dogs cool of some. All in all great hike and day with the pups.

My third or 4th time riding. This trail was pretty challenging for me but SO great. Trail was pretty busy on the Sunday that we went so be prepared for high traffic on portions! Mostly mtn bikers like us. Was steep in places for a novice like me.

Bumpy dirt road for about 2 miles , my Honda Civic made it but make sure you have good tires! :) Beautiful gradual hike- I parked at the Miller Gulch parking area. I agree 2/3 is shaded, you’re walking in the forest for awhile with beautiful boulders, flowers, redwoods with bundles of Aspen trees in some places. I went counterclockwise through gas house trail down through the burn zone(great views) and the 1/3 that’s in the sun. It does turn into baldy trail when you head back up. At first I was nervous being alone because I wasn’t sure of the wildlife situation, but only saw birds and little animals (lizards, small snakes) I only ran into mountain bikers and they were pretty spread out- I’m pretty sure I was the only hiker- if you like mountain biking I would highly recommend this trail with how smooth the trail is. I also started my hike around 1:30 on a Tuesday :) It took me about 5 hours and this says 9.4, but my phone tracked 11 miles Have fun!

Much as others desc: more of a marathon than anything technical. Great for keeping the heart up for a long time. Keep an open ear for the mtn bikers. They're courteous, but they're not messing around. recommend earlier as it gets warmer. That burn scar on the back side could be a doozie mid-day on hot ones.

Beautiful easy trail. My garmin called it at 10.2, but even with the extra mile this was a nice, shaded hike most of the way and some beautiful views once you got into the valley.

Nice quiet & mellow trail, shaded for about 2/3 of the way. Not many people on a Sunday morning.

Really easy trail to follow with some cool views of a very large burn scar. The climb coming back up was a little tougher than I’d planned. Would recommend a wattle bottle and maybe a gel for running.

A moderate loop indeed, completely dry and free of snow in late April. There are some views in the middle section of the loop and some interesting rock formations but a ton of mountain bikers so hikers’s be warned.

There are a ton of trails that branch off of this trailhead. If you continue to the end of Miller Gulch Trail, you end up at a three way fork next to My. Baldy that gives you options to take trails towards Buffalo Creek or Pine Valley Ranch Park. Overall, I’d classify this trail as east as there was almost no elevation gain. That said, it was a beautiful area with many miles of trail, so I highly recommend checking it out.
