This is a beautiful trail with steady incline and incredible views throughout. You'll pass by Continental Falls shortly before arriving at the end destination of Lower Mohawk Lake. The area is painted with colorful wildflowers in the spring and you'll have a chance at spotting some of the region's abundant wildlife.

Beautiful. With varied terrain. We did get distracted by the waterfall ad lost the trail to lower Mohawk lake and ended up backtracking a bit. But we’re glad that we turned around and continued the climb to the lake. We were there the Monday after the 4th and it was VERY crowded.

Hiked on July 6, moderate crowds for a Monday. The whole group clocked closer to 8 miles round trip and we followed Spruce trail from the 2WD parking lot and did not do the Mayflower lake detour, but went straight to lower Mohawk lake. Saw a moose and her calf in the forested section of the hike in a marshy lake. We would have missed this if we had used the 4WD lot. The Continental falls are lovely, hike includes a stream crossing on some logs. Not too many wildflowers, but had never seen old mining cabins before, so that was new and different!

Nice trail that is heavily traveled for a Monday. Trail is well marked till the top then it splits into multiple routes leading to lower Mohawk lake. There were three parking spots at the trail head when we arrived at 8:00am. There is no solitude on this hike. Lakes are nice but crowded. We hiked down the Jeep trail to avoid the congestion on the trail.

Nice trail but very poorly marked. Several trails intersect but not many markings. Rocky for the first half and muddy at about the halfway point. Also requires crossing a river over fallen branches. Lot fills quickly but went in the morning and were able to find a spot.

I highly recommend this trail for everyone! The terrain varies throughout, a great waterfall, and some lakes for a nice snack and lunch stop. We experienced all weather conditions, from sunny to breezy, cold, and little hail pellets, with thunder and a down pour, and then as we completed it the sun was out and we we’re all dry, but still covered in dirt! It was worth it! If you have teens, there are great photo ops! Be sure to take a cover up, and raincoat, because with the higher elevation the weather changes quickly. Enjoy!

We only made it to Mayflower lake due to rain, but with that said- We loved this hike! So beautiful and not as crowded as I assumed it would be on fourth of july. Lots of dogs almost all on leashes, you love to see it. Our pupperinos had a blast and so do our humans. Even the afternoon downpour made for a fun and exciting time. The hike has an amazing view payoff. Can't wait to come back and hike up to Mohawk lake and continental falls.

Not easy, but amazing. The views are worth it. The best way would be to have a 4WD and drive up the road to the actual trail. There is a sketchy creek crossing you may need to mentally prepare yourself for!

One of the best hikes I’ve done. Get here early! Trail gets busy after 7 am. 11 miles round trip from the 2WD parking lot with 2500 ft of gain but even step is worth it!

Gorgeous trail. The hike to the lower water falls, the upper and the lakes gets pretty steep. Well worth the hike. Get to the parking lot early. Even for a weekday the trail was crowded.

6/29/20. This place is amazing! it's soooooooo beautiful. The waterfall is very nice. You can climb beside it if you like. I did, and it wasn't too difficult. The lakes get more and more beautiful the farther back you go. I took my time, left at 1230p and back by 730p. Don't rush this one! Plan to spend some time there. Also, bring a fishing pole or picnic. I saw some people fly fishing.

Great trail, beautiful views! Hiking shoes a must, although I did see people wearing sneakers! I would recommend starting early in the morning by 10. There are 3 attractions, the waterfall, and 2 lakes. Each attraction is further up the trail. Once you reach the homestead along the trail, the trail becomes significantly more rocky, steep, and more difficult to climb. Walking treks would be beneficial but not required.

Really easy hike (gentle incline), just the altitude that's killer if you're not from CO. Hiked this in the afternoon/evening from 4pm-7pm. We climbed around Continental Falls/the Lower Falls Vista and it was beautiful/mostly empty. Definitely lost the trail on the way up to the falls from Mayflower Lake and weren't sure how to quickly get to the Lower Mohawk Lake and back down - wish there were more signage in this area as the path at the start (which is super obvious) is extremely well marked... go figure. Not knowing the route, we headed back to make sure we weren't out after dark. Bugs on the start of the trail in the woods, but didn't bother us if we kept moving.
