Great trail with twists and turns, and plenty of shady areas. Intended it as a trail run, but it’s quite rocky in some areas and with too many blind curves. Made for a fun hike. Became heavily trafficked by mid-morning.

Early spring 78°, hot in town, but on the trail even though all the leaves weren't out, it was cooler with the breeze from the creek and some shade. Extremely flat with nice boardwalk sections for the first half then it becomes more single track with knee size boulders to navigate in places, short sections of moderately steep areas that are no problem. Good training hike for a recent ACL injury.

Muy lindo el trail por el medio de la montaña, decidimos seguir para Hunter valey y luego hacer red Mountain pero está todo lleno de nieve, así que tuvimos que regresar.

This is a nice easy trail. Started getting muddy and then icy as you got close to the end

Fresh snow last night. Pretty well tracked out till the meadows where a skier had packed it down up to the top by the mine shaft. From there to the lookout was over ankle deep and slow.

As of the time of this review, the trail is most definitely OPEN. A wonderful easy to moderate hike. A great first hike when getting to Aspen and needing to acclimate. Edit to add: I submitted an edit at the time of my original review but Alltrails has still not updated their description. The trail is not closed. It is definitely open.

Trail was closed on June 17 due to bridge maintenance. Sounds like it will be closed all summer.

We loved this trail. We hiked it on May 19. The trail had a bit of snow on it but nothing that waterproof shoes can’t handle. It follows a creek up. You get to cross several pretty bridges and there are nice views of the mountains. It also connects to several other trails. We continued to the Iowa mine and then came down smugglers road for a nice 5ish mile hike.

It was a morning hike of 1 1/4 hours. Very pleasant with nice views at the top. Good workout.

We agree with Kristen below. It’s rated as easy, and it is less than 2 miles but the second half is steep with nothing interesting at end but it is was good workout for a first day for a Class of 67. Rick and Grayce our calculator would put it at upper moderate rather than easy

Solid 4-6 inches of snow on the trail was fine to trudge through and made the forest and babbling cascading streaks so beautiful covered in snow.

Not as EASY as states due to walking up hill in high altitude. Just a heads up to any inexperienced hikers out there. It is beautiful tho and shaded w running creek
