A beautiful winter snowshoe hike! I started on the spruce creek trail as this is a bit prettier than the road. Snowshoes were super helpful on the wheeler trail.

Loved this trail! Snowed the entire time and the views were very scenic. We required a mix of crampons and snowshoes. Snowshoes were more needed towards the end. Overall, a beautiful hike.

Only able to make it up 1.5 miles before postholing; turned around and looped through Spruce Creek trail which is nicely packed. Wheeler trail in between is hit or miss with footing-some packed, then you lose half your leg in the snow. Great day out nonetheless!

Only saw 1 person on the trail. Definitely longer than what all trails says. Almost made it to the lake but had to turn around because of post holing and deep snow.

Lots of elevation but so worth it! So many views along the way, especially at the top. A little slippery on the way down.

Would definitely rate this trail closer to hard- as I come from indiana with no elevation. Pretty steep the entire way. Very icy in some spots. A moose ran about 50ft in front of us about 1 mile up- amazing! Very very windy at the lake.

The trail is definitely longer than what’s listed. It was well worth the view! What a gorgeous day. There were some icy/slippery spots along the way so watch your step. I highly recommend this trail!

Initial mile is very steep, and there's a decent amount of snow on the ground in shady spots (as of Nov 1) so spikes and/or poles are definitely necessary. It was pretty windy at the top, but the views surrounding the lake are absolutely beautiful and make the whole hike worth it.

Beautiful and steep hike. Def rec wearing hiking boots rather than sneakers because it can be icy at times. Windy at the top.

The trail is steep and you will be climbing for the 1st mile. Then flattens out and then becomes a little steep towards the end but the lake was worth it it was quite beautiful. Elevation was tough for us flatlanders but was doable.

Great quick trail near Breck. Took us 2 hours. It’s uphill continuously pretty much the whole way in. Definitely a grind. The lake is pretty and was gorgeous in the snow. Trail is rocky and steep at a lot of points but a doable mileage

This is a tough trail, especially the first mile and a half up. Would not recommend for casual hike, you’re gonna work for the hike up there but the views are worth it once you clear the tree line.
