Great easy hike! There are restrooms at trailhead and by molas lake (however the molas lake ones were closed). Getting to the big lake is pretty much a gradual decline the whole way, so on the way back, it is a gradual incline (which is probably why it is rated as moderate), and it is a very well groomed trail. Only saw a few other people and a couple bikers. Gorgeous day

HikingGreat!

This was a really pleasant trail!! Very pretty views and a very moderate hike, this is a really good one to acclimatize with. If you’re coming from the direction of silverton, you can pass the lake molas campground and park at the trailhead parking, but be aware that you’ll have to backtrack to see both lakes

HikingGreat!

This trail is rated as "moderate" but I would definitely classify it as an easy trail. Besides the low elevation gain, the footing is very easy - mostly packed dirt with little to no rocks, loose or otherwise. We decided to do this trail first to acclimate ourselves to the elevation before heading on to more difficult trails, as we are from Texas. I highly recommend this! The area is beautiful. The rolling hills with all the evergreen is just so peaceful.

Super easy and pretty! If you’re looking for views, I’d stay back at Molas lake because the best views are just by sitting by the lake.

7/3/2020AllTrails directions to trail and trailhead are very confusing. I think it has you starting at little molas hiking downhill to molas then back up. We parked at winter parking lot head south east. You will see a big sign showing the wilderness area. Just behind that is a small sign for the Colorado trail. It is easy to go in Wilderness area instead of Little Molas lake. That is what you want. Then you head to moles lake on the Colorado trail/molas trail. Ps trail in good condition. I wore my chacos and was fine. Trail running shoes would be good. Big waterproof hiking boots would be overkill

the best views of Molas Pass and the lakes! this summer had exceptionally more mosquitos but it is a very stunning hike! especially when the water is still and has a beautiful reflection.

7-10-19. This was an ok hike. I would recommend just taking the Colorado trail from the same trailhead - way better.

We drive through Molas Pass so often we finally made the decision to take a hike! We started at Little Molas lake and made the round trip as it was mapped out.. The weather was great, the fall foliage was on her way out, the gold and orange contrast was barely evident. The mountain vistas were awesome. I highly recommend the trip.

Nice easy trail. Saw 2 deer at TH parking lot near Molas Lake. Hiked RT from Molas to Little Molas and back. Highway noise, but started pretty early so not too bad. Nice scenery!

Pretty hike but it’s pretty much downhill from the trailhead and you can hear the highway for most of the hike.

Once we crossed the Highway heading west there was a lot of snow and mud on the trail. Little Molas was still partially frozen, but the trail is doable.

I actually hiked 4.8 miles to bear creek area from little Molas. was a great day sunny and cool. Views were spectacular. Could see Purgatory, Engineer, Turks and Sultan. Definitely want to go back.

Gorgeous views but really close to 550. Would recommend hiking out from Molas Lake to Animas River instead.

Great hike! Very pretty scenery and the trail wasn't rocky (which I prefer). A little annoying to have to hear and cross 550 but that was the only negative thing to say.
