My 20 yo daughter and her 23 yo friend joined me, a 42 yo on this 11 mi backpacking hike. We began at 7 am and finished after 2. We made several stops along the way to enjoy the scenery and took plenty of pics for memories. We were not adequately prepared for the snow covered trail but were determined to summit at 12,000. We picked up walking sticks along the way which proved to be life savers as we trekked across the mountain in snow and rock. Our intent was to make it to the lake but due to the snow we were unable to reach it. There were several downed trees and a few small creeks to cross. Nothing difficult to speak of except for acclimating to the altitude since we are from Oklahoma. We still had an amazing hike with beautiful scenery for the entirety of the 11 miles and for 3 fairly inexperienced females, we felt very accomplished at the end of our backpacking hike. We will be more prepared when we come back next year.
