It's easy to get lost on the way to the peak, there's not much of a trail. It took us three tries to summit. Lots of brutal slogging over talus, a good bit of scrambling. The view from the top is worth the effort, though.

The “directions” from AllTrails is terrible and does not take you to the trail head of this hike. Drive yourself to the ‘Weir and Johnson campground’ for parking. I followed the instructions in the comments below “follow 717” and did not end up anywhere near the peak. Actually according to my Garmin I went the exact opposite direction by following 717. Gorgeous area though!

I freaking love this hike!!! The whole thing is cross country with little actual trail, but you pretty much just head north and every now and a then you will see the fire tower at the top and be able to adjust your course. Wooded towards the start, lots of Boulder piles towards the end.
