More than half the trail is on a dirt road. Didn’t realize the trail started at the base of the road. Gorgeous views, but the lake is private property so you can’t get too close without trespassing.

Arrived on Saturday at 745am. Started with minimal people in trail but once we went down at 900am was very busy. If you have a SUV you can drive up the road to trailhead (trailhead for Silver Lake too). There is about 20 spaces. But there is a parking lot at bottom of road you can then walk up to trailhead. This road is about 1/2 mile and very steep. So once you to trailhead you may be worn out like us. And to note many bugs and mosquitoes due to the water and trees. This trail is really meant to go to Silver Lake but you will get to a sign that continues on trail to left on way to Silver Lake. If you walk just beyond that is the lake. Lots of rocks to sit and enjoy the lake and peaks. You can not get close to the lake as it is private property. It is high elevation around 11,000ft. Next time we will continue on to Silver Lake

Great easier hike for a view. You can park off the main road and hike up the road to the trailhead (getting you the 2.6 distance) or drive to the trailhead. Even sedans would make it. If you hike to the trailhead be prepared to share with passing vehicles (a bit annoying but we wanted the extra distance). It’s probably only a mile round trip from the trailhead to naylor lake (labeled as silver dollar trail head because I think you can go further). Great for out of towners, anyone looking for something relatively short and not too hard. Cross through a meadows over water and land at a lake - can’t beat it!

Awesome adventure. Fell waist deep in snow a couple times but well worth it.

Was trying for the next lake but couldn't do it after a night shift. However, Naylor lake was GORGEOUS! Following the trail to the second lake (Silver Dollar Lake) gets you to amazing views of Naylor Lake. Snow won't allow you to drive to trailhead though so its a bit longer than listed.
