The Lake offers very beautiful scenic views, several species of birds and wildflowers, and great fishing (catch and release only). The trail is great for small families (no strollers) and provides a lot of great spots for photography. The floating bridge is a total highlight!

it is a wonderfully peaceful place. Very enjoyable hike.

Nuce 3 km loop around an interesting Lake. There were lots of birds and beautiful scenery with the Rocky Mountains as a back drop at times. Not a difficult walk, except for the 90 temperature but otherwise quite nice.

Overall a decent trail. Easy stroll for everyone. Nothing special to it but still a good recommendation

Beautiful place and very relax.

My husband and I completed this hike on April 7, 2018.

The trail is easy.... just a flat two miles around the reservoir. We enjoyed the educational plaques and the telescopes. During our hike we saw mule deer and a variety of birds. The gray, cloudy day, combined with the charred burned areas surrounding the path made this a less-than-ideal time of year for hiking this trail. Still, there was beauty to be found in the long yellow grasses, the occasional patch of orange reeds, and the stillness of the water.

Great views!

A nice walk with the recent weather we've been having. We stopped for a long chat with some prairie dogs on the way.

it's a nice, easy trail but short.

Nice and easy hike. A couple of very small beaches along the lake. Family friendly, popular trail.

Nice walking trail around lakes, marsh, and open prairie. Super quiet in the evening. Saw bison, great horned owl, great blue heron, cormorants, deer, prairie dogs and more!!

Trail head not clearly marked, also lack of signs within refugee to find parking. Multiple road closures not helpful to start. That being said the Lake is beautiful!

Flat, pretty, plenty of wildlife for so close to the city - a few bison, a ferret in the display area, waterfowl that aren't native to the area, and dozens of chirruping prairie dogs. They area is currently in a controlled burn program, so many of the fields are black, one still smoking, and a few where the green sprouts are pushing up past the char ... very striking. No pets! When I walked it on Saturday just after noon, there were few other hikers, so I'm not sure about the "heavily trafficked" description. There are quite a variety of trails, so you can do a very short or a very long hike. I hiked the outer loop and then went off trail and made a two hour hike of it.

NO DOGS!! It's posted... arguably in plain view. Ignorance almost got us.

Nothing spectacular, but the proximity to Denver is appealing when we don't have enough time to drive up to the mountains, or for a snow-free spot during much of the winter. The chance to see bison is a nice perk of the Arsenal, too!

Nice that it's so close to the city, and great that it's so empty most of the time. Haven't caught any fish in the times we tried, but it's good for a nature walk.

Very beautiful walk and rather easy, definitely one I'll be back to visit

Another nice place to hike, bird-watch and fish in the middle of the city. Free entry and if you hit it at the right time, you'll see bison roaming the plains. I've seen plenty of birds, bison, snakes, prairie dogs and other animals on my hikes.

Nice and quite

Great easy trail for a private walk or run. Very sunny though.

The hike of these trails are precise at easy, flat and graveled. Downside is lack of shade cover. They also offer a 9 mile drive trail with a chance to observe the Bison heard. Visitor center is open Tue-Sun Sunrise to Sunset. No bike trails offered.

Get their early and you'll see buffalo and plenty of white tails. Flowers are beautiful but the trails are easy. Great place to take the kids.

Did not see much wildlife. The area near the ponds/lakes is full of Deer Flies. was bit several times. Bring spray.
