The Kruger Rock trail head is accessed in Hermit Park, an open space just outside Estes Park, Colorado. The trail is about 4 miles round trip. Short, but with a few steep stretches and a rock scramble at the end so you don't feel completely lazy. And the views at the top are fantastic. Hike across fields and then up and around a forested mountain to Kruger Rock. $9 park entry

Pretty good trail with nice views at the top! There a chipmunks everywhere. A couple false peaks, pretty moderate-easy hike overall with sand/dirt trail most of the way.

Beautiful trail. Steady climb and a bit warm today, but well worth the effort. Quite a few people today, consider going early. Altitude plus the climb likely make this difficult for flatlanders, moderate for locals.

Lovely trail with amazing view. Was a holiday so quite a few people - but not crowded. Enjoy the chipmunks at the top.... so curious!

Great trail with an AMAZING view at the top. There is a bit of a steep incline but it was overall a very nice hike and it wasn’t heavily trafficked at all.

Had a great time! It’s considered moderate because of some light “climbing” at the top, but overall not bad for the views!

Such beautiful views at the top! Steady incline all the way makes you wonder if you'll make it, but totally worth it if you do.

Wow! The views are just amazing... probably some of the best views I’ve ever had on a hike. The hike is uphill the entire time to summit, nothing too steep, but definitely a workout so bring lots of water & prepare to get your heart rate up. I saw quite a few little kids on the hike (ages 5-ish and below) but I also heard lots of crying and whining, too. Prob tiring for their little legs as parents were carrying them in spots. I’d say better for older kiddos.

Favorite hike of our trip! Definitely moderate but there are several "false peaks" where you can rest and take in the view. At the summit, the view is worth every step -- highly recommend this hike!

Cool trail to a rocky outcrop with great views over Estes Park and towards Rocky Mountain National Park. Fee to park is $9. Moderately strenuous but not very many steep spots.

Arrived at 8 am on Memorial Day Monday and there were only two other cars at the trailhead. Hiking up was great saw very few folks and had the top of the rock to ourselves. The summit rock has incredible views of Longs, Estes and the mountains close up. On the way down the trail was a lot busier passing lots of groups and the trailhead parking lot was completely full by mid-morning. If going on a weekend get there early to beat the crowds! Wubalubadubdub!!!

Great hike with great views! The first mile has a steady incline, which makes this short hike a decent workout if you go at a good pace. Clean bathrooms at the trailhead, and $9 fee with credit card at the entrance.

Arrived at trailhead at 11 am to hopefully catch some parking as the morning crowd finished up the trail. Found a spot easily. Entry fee is $9 and you pay at the digital kiosk right off the main road (US 36). Display ticket in your front window. Then you will drive 2.2 ish miles up to parking. There is parking right at the trailhead as well as if you take a left right before the trailhead you will find another lot noted by a sign that says “vehicle parking”. Rangers were patrolling and giving out parking tickets so make sure to read the signs. Solid 4 mile hike. It’s out and back so the hike is uphill pretty much the whole time for two miles. Lookout rock at the top with beautiful views over Estes Park and surrounding mountains. The trail has absolutely no snow on it. Some people were hiking in sandals. It is shaded about 50% of the time. We hiked Saturday of MDW and trail was heavily trafficked, we were never really on our own on the trail (which we were expecting). There are some really nice picnic tables at the base of the trail over looking the meadow. We ate our sandwiches there post hike. Additional plus - cleanest trailhead bathrooms we have ever been in!

I did the hike today in perfect weather. Parking lot was pretty full by 10:00 so get there early. Lots of hikers heading up as I was coming down. Remember water. I saw many people without. 3 little boys made it up with their parents.

Short climb to amazing views of Estes and Longs Peak! Started the hike at 8:20am, there were 5 other cars at the TH. Saw about 20 people on trail (which for a beautiful morning, with RMNP closed, during a holiday weekend wasn’t bad at all!). Kiosk is still broken if you arrive before the visitor center is open (day pass = $9). Doable hike for all.

Great views of Long's and Estes along the way and at summit. A little breezy at the top, so bring a light weight jacket. With RMNP down, this is a good alternative.

Great views with a nice easy scramble at the end.

Amazing hike! Not very busy today. I went around 930am. The rock scramble at the end isn't too hard at all. It's quite fun actually. The view at the top smacks you in the face with pure beauty. Definitely recommend this hike for everyone. Easy for dogs and kids.

An amazing hike! Kruger Rock trail is set outside Estes and RMNP thus the foot traffic on the trail is very minimum compared to inside the park. The trail is well maintained, average amount of rocks and some sandy areas. We hiked on May 10th, 2020, and there were some patches of snow in shaded areas but none on the trail - trail was dry. About 500 feet elevation gain per mile gets the heart pumping in places thus a decent workout. The views! The views! Some of the best views from a trail I have ever seen. You oversee the town of Estes and Estes Lake as well as multiple mtn peaks. There is a very short rock scramble the end that will give you 360 views. If you don't want to do the scramble, that is ok, right before the last section there is a clearing with some awesome views as well. This is a must hike!
