quick workout to wonderous view of flatirons This trail starts in an old part of Boulder with a quick elevation climb to get the heart pumping. Once on the mesa, follow the trail into the trees and around to the left for a short loop. You will be on the Mesa trail for a short while. Notice what selective tree removal has done while you hike. There is a map at the trailhead.

Beautiful trail. A little rocky but we did just fine. It's a little steep at the start but turns into a mild climb in good time. We took skunk canyon on the way back and were rewarded with the prettiest views of the trail.

Beautiful with tons of wild flowers. Nice rock benches a little past the end. Sick cloud watching spot.

Okay trail. Traction recommended this week - the trail is slick in spots from the thaw/freeze cycle. Decent views.

4/5 for trail running - a bit too rocky at times but this was a good time for a cool down.

It was a nice little stroll. I worked up a sweat, too. No bathrooms, though. Be prepared to go on the trail or hold it.

Great little hike. We did the kolher Mesa trail up and skunk canyon back down. Ended up with 4.49 miles total. Aside from the initial climb at the beginning I would say this should be rated as easy. We got there around 9am and not many people on the trail. Maybe saw 10 people total

Nice hike, the beginning of the trail was a little overgrown/washed out but easy to follow. There was some construction going on at the very end of the trail as well. Overall a good easy hike to do in a couple hours.

Perfect day for a hike with my son. Our time was limited and we got off course so didn't end up finishing. I will be back. The terrain offers variety of steady inclines & less intense stretches through the woods. Looking forward to next time.

Great hike, we took the path on the right from the trailhead. Uphill climb, not too bad but definitely gets your blood pumping. Pretty muddy from the snowmelt but a lot of lush green plants coming back to life! Overall really great hike, my dog loved it. Saw a mama bear and her cub not far off the trail so make sure you put your dog back on the leash when you get into the thicker woods. Take the Woods Quarry loop once you get up there. There's a little overlook with rocks to sit on, nice spot relax for a few.

This was our first hike this year so we wanted to start with an easier one. This was perfect.

This was more of an out and back than a loop. Pretty views. Lots of dry dirt and loose rock on the way down which made the descent a little difficult and slow. Overall nice woodsy hike.

Decent trail, a lot quieter than some in the area

you should definitely try out this trail. It does has a VERY steep incline, but after you get past this you are good to go. Easy breazy peazy! very quite as there are not very many people that you will run into, which is a great perk!

Short, easy but pretty hike with lot of wildflowers, see pics. Started at Deer Valley Road (plenty of parking on street, there was nary a soul there) with Skunk Canyon trail, looped around to Kohler spur, back to Skunk Canyon trail which climbs up thru trees to Mesa trail. Did the hike in eve at 5:30 pm start and there was hardly anyone on the trail. Wildflowers were blooming and it was a lovely, quiet hike. Also a Nice easy trail for running, if you are in trail running. Great trail for quick evening hike after work.

Did this second time in morn, starting at Deer Valley Rd up Skunk Canyon to Mesa trail, heading north on Mesa to Kohler Mesa split & taking that down to Skunk Canyon & back. Kohler Mesa winds thru pine forest and is more rocky than Skunk Canyon trail. There was no one on Kohler trail, everyone was on Skunk Canyon trail, which is really pretty with great views of Flatirons, abundant wildflowers, butterflies and birds. Sometimes easy trails can be very pretty and enjoyable.

Sort of a secret trail. Went two Sundays ago with adults and kids. Some friends of mine went to nearby Chataugua to hike at the same time but couldn't find parking. We parked right at the trailhead. The trail takes intersects with Mesa trail and offers great views of the Flatirons. Not too difficult for little legs either.
