Plenty of shade and beautiful spots along the hike, however the last 3/4 of the hike was snowed out.

Still a lot of snow on the second half of the hike, I wish I'd worn waterproof shoes. This hike looks like it would be a lot of fun in a few weeks when more of the snow melts. You can make a nice loop on the first part by taking the discovery and challenger trails, no snow on that section. Or there is a parking lot farther up so you could actually skip the first part of the hike instead.

Great hike, as always. Snow pack was good down low, but at higher elevations we lost the trail and had improvise. Still, with very few people on the trail for a Saturday morning it made for an enjoyable outing.

Always a great trail. Still a lot of snow pack, but everything is passable. Started post hole a bit later in the day.

Outstanding winter trail. We did this in lieu of skiing the day after the COVID-19 shut down. Hiking boots made it a bit challenging but snowshoes would be helpful in certain parts. I would def it again.

Beautiful trail! Packed down enough today that running shoes worked perfectly. I started at noon, so parking was iffy, but got a spot by waiting for a departing skiier. The cross country skiers and snowshoers on the trail also seemed very happy.

LOVED this hike. Wore spikes. No snowshoes needed until about 1 to 1/12 hours in. The snow then was pretty deep and not packed down. Might be more packed now after weekend traffic. Beautiful trees. A wonderful winter wonderland. Great place to go if you have little ones in ski school at Winter Park. It is right across the street from the big parking lot. No bathroom at trailhead.

Tougher hike due to snow but we enjoyed the trail. Waterfall is frozen already. Saw the last bit of color too. Looking forward to doing this next summer.

There are two destinations on this hike. The first is about 2 miles up- a gorgeous view of meadow and mountains. We got there just a bit early as the aspens haven't changed yet. Should be gorgeous by the end of the week. The second is a waterfall about 3 1/2 miles up. You have to cross the Jim Creek several times (can be muddy or slippery) and you hear the creek pretty much the entire time. We saw no wildlife except birds but met hikers who say they've seen moose frequently. So plan accordingly for time- it can several hours long if going to the waterfall.

We really enjoyed this trail. I have been on it before in the winter and wanted to come back when there wasn’t any snow. We went well past the end of the trail listed on here, and continued on the trail to see some magnificent waterfalls. Some very muddy/mushy parts of the trail so take appropriate shoes.

Nice pretty easy trail with a few simple river crossings out to the waterfall. Waterfall was very nice and peaceful.

It was a beautiful hike but the aspen have not even started to change yet. When hiking this and using All Trails, it will show that you have reached the destination, but keep going for 1/4 mile to get to the waterfall.

Lots of extra trails being made by people trying to avoid the mud. Nice amount of shade.
