This is a great area accessed by county road 240. County road 240 was closed until very recently due to avalanche debris. After a very long rough road, reaching Island Lake is a short enjoyable hike from parking lot at Billings Lake without any extreme incline. Usually company on trail or at lake, but not much traffic comparatively. Mosquitoes can be bad late July into late August. Beautiful but finicky cutthroat, above average size, may reward if the timing is right.
