Easy walk to a picturesque lake. Wanted to eat lunch by the lake but there were room many bugs to enjoy it. Better to use the picnic tables at the trailhead.

Trail is open and an easy hike. Great place to picnic, several of the tables are off by themselves providing helpful distance. Lots of nice wildflowers and evidence of moose in the area. A little hidden gem in Rocky Mountain National Park. Beautiful, see my pics.

We had a timed entry and made a lot of stops throughout RMNP. We stopped here to use the potty and saw a fox in the parking lot!! The trail is still covered in 3ft of snow so you can only see the lake from about 30ft in from the parking lot.

A perfect spot to stretch the legs and have a picnic (and avoid the 1/4 mile long line at the Alpine Visitors Center bathrooms). Great for the kiddos too.

Beautiful walk around the lake. Trail is very popular. There is a trail that follows the lake on both sides so I hiked the loop and there is opportunity to extend the hike via the Ute trail.

Was expecting more from this trail. Quick hike around an ok lake. Good to stretch the legs out. Overlook towards the mid point was nothing special. Parking lot was full at 1pm on Friday 7/26, parked on the road.

Very beautiful, short hike, accessible to the whole family. Trail was slightly muddy but avoidable. We visited on a Wednesday at 1 pm, the parking lot was overflowing due to many picknickers stopping on their way to or from the Alpine Center.

The hike to Lake Irene was very short but still beautiful. We decided to keep going past the lookout and had breathtaking views of mountains and a stream down a large meadow. We were lucky enough to see a female moose grazing in the meadow. The hike past the lookout was peaceful and almost seemed like a well kept secret. We had the whole trail to ourselves.

We hiked this yesterday. It was a beautiful short hike to the lake. The beginning of the trail is still snowy and very muddy. The overlook is gorgeous. We saw a huge female moose in the field. This trail is perfect for young children.

Snowy in places during Mid-June, but still a worthwhile leg -stretcher right off the hwy. The overlook just beyond the lake is really nice too.
