Beautiful hike, but please be careful on this trail. My friends and I were not paying enough attention and we ended up straight between a baby and a mama moose. It was very scary.

Actually at the sawmill museum are two trailheads. The one closest to the sawmill is the bottom of Aspen Alley ( if you parked at ice rink then you walk from here) The other trail to the right is actually the Blue River Trail which goes some ranchette properties through a beautiful valley. It first connects to the Illinois Creek High trail. Further along the trail after getting into more ups and downs it connects and forest it connects to Indiana Gulch trail. We didn’t go as far as to connect with Indiana Gulch. You share this narrow tail with road bikers. Note: aspen alley trailhead at the top is found by parking in Bakers Tank trail parking lot —-info given by a biker)

this is not the trail to use when looking for the troll.

There’s a lot of private property on this trail, so stay on the trail. The wildflowers and trees are beautiful but there’s not a lot of Mountain views if that’s what you’re looking for. We went looking for the troll but didn’t have any luck.

Beautiful woodsy little hike. Easy, with nice wildflowers. Lots of mountain bikers to dodge so make sure you keep your dogs close.

Trail head is at the sawmill museum. The wildflowers are fantastic. We also saw numerous birds including a calliope hummingbird. Go early to avoid heavy traffic on the trail.

Very nice trail. It was easy with a few steep spots. Hiked w friends and a 10 and 8 year old. Shady throughout. It is the trail to the right when facing the fence. Beautiful lake.

We actually never found this trail even with utilizing GPS and AllTrails reviews. We did find, however, Illinois Creek trail nearby just near the skating rink as well as the troll. Too close to cars. Could hear the highway the entire time

This was a beautiful, easy trail. It got muddy a couple of times but it was easy to avoid.

walking through a bunch of people's backyards kind of kills the nature vibe

6/2 Still snow along the trail but we were able to complete it with no spikes. Pretty easy trail to follow, had great views of the forest & we saw tons of animal tracks—moose, elk & coyote. The woods were pretty but I’d say skip this trail if you want amazing mountain views.

Nice hike in the woods. Starts out in a valley with nice mountain views. Good for young kids. Narrow trails. Lots of bikes. We could hear the highway from some parts. We never saw the pond (but that’s probably just because we didn’t go very far up).

‘Pond’ is dried up, trail had snowy patches but didn’t require extra gear. Not much to see Honestly, just a little walk through the forest.

Mon Sep 11 2017

Saw a mother moose and a young moose down in the brush off of the trail. Parking at the Sawmill museum is very limited. Other hikers and bikers on the trail were polite.

Great home for getting acclimated to the elevation. Very quiet once you get into it. No wildlife seen, but lots of different kinds of tracks next to the pond.

Tue Aug 22 2017

Easy hike if you need to adjust to the altitude. Access the trail from the sawmill museum but note that parking is limited. Most of the trail is shaded and winds near the national forest. Trails are clearly marked and easy to navigate.

Pleasent easy hike. Some bike traffic.

Sun Jul 09 2017

A nice little trail with a fair amount of mountain bike traffic. Did not seem like there was as much of elevation gain as the trail stats would have suggested. No expansive views, except we took the trail past what we believed the end to be, until the point where we ended at Indiana Creek road, where there was a great view of Quandary Peak. Last half of the trail had lots of lupine and a fair amount of paintbrush. Mostly soft forest floor surface with few rocks.

Nice easy walk through the forest. There's a small lake about 1 mile up the trail. Another hiker reported seeing a moose last week on the trail.

Thu Jun 29 2017

Definitely didn't see the big waterfall that someone posted a picture of and even went farther than the trails suggested. Decent hike overall tho.

The trail is snow covered so it is really hard to navigate where you are going. Beautiful hike as far as I went. Turned around when I lost the trail and saw what seemed to be fresh bear tracks! Will be definitely going back this summer!

Only did the first mile and went back down. great view looking down towards Breckenridge
