This challenging 2.1 mile trail connects the upper mountain trails to Lorys valley trails on the south end of the park. Howard Trail offers an alternative route of return from the Arthurs Rock Trail and connects upper Timber Trail and Westridge Trail to create loop opportunities for all backcountry activities.

Stunning trail! Start to the left of Arthur's Rock trail. Not much shade for the first 1-2 miles but you eventually get into trees. All uphill first 2 miles. Beautiful views!

Great trail. Views were never ending! Nothing to difficult. Gorgeous area though and easy to connect to other trails as well.

Started on Arthur’s rock trail and then took this trail to the top. We got lucky and hiked on a cloudy morning. It seems to me there wouldn’t be a lot of shade on a sunny day!

Good trail with great views of Horsetooth Res and Ft. Collins. Switchbacks were challenging but not overly difficult. Took Arthur’s Rock trail back. Loved the view at the summit of Arthur’s Rock. Go early. The later I gets the more the trail fills up.

First two miles are the most challenging. Settles after that with a few small sections with some elevation gains. Included Westridge Trail and part of Timber Trail to get a few more miles and a bit more elevation and created a 7.6 mile lollipop loop. Cold, cloudy, and fog at the start, but once above that you get the views the area is known for. Great hike.

It was a peaceful and quite hike. not much traffic. it is probably nicer to do it during spring or fall because this hike doesn't have much shade. Instead of turning around we went back by Arthur's rock and it was perfect.
