Trail is up a dead end Valley and back but it passes from semi-arid grasslands and pinyon juniper through aspen and then beetle kill forest with lots of wildflowers. A few muddy spots and one minor blowdown but otherwise good trail conditions. Inexplicably near the end the GPS turns right (going up) when the trail turns left. Go figure. Nice meadow near the end. I recorded only my return trip.

This is a moderate trail and I highly recommend it if you are not ready for a hard trail. The first third has great views of the valley below and wildflowers. The second third is through a forest of aspen (I think) and the last third is steep and cooler. We loved it!

Pretty muddy and trail not well maintained so had to dodge a lot of fallen trees. Lots of wildlife around.

Great trail for my tribe. Made it halfway up and thunderstorms rolled in. We had ponchos but turned back due to lightning. I’d love to finish this trail.

The road is accessible, the trail is pretty well capped, it's a steady incline to the top, all-around great Sangre hike

Nice view over the San Luis valley, hiked this before a drive in the Bonanza area (Jeep trails).
