Hope Lake Trail is a 6 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Telluride, Colorado that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is best used from March until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail.

October 14, 2020Great trail. Lake was beautiful. I tracked 2.5 miles to the lake with 1200ft climbing. It was challenging at times, but worth it. I definitely would recommend hiking a little further on the trail for a great views of the lake.
October 12, 2020Hope Lake is beautiful and a pretty easy hike. I went up and did Vermillion Peak, Fuller Peak and the ridge line which was a tremendous and challenging add on. Couldn't resist tagging 4 13ers in the rugged San Juans!
October 10, 2020October 6, 2020AllTrails, you were off on the elevation gain by a little bit. Like, over 1,500’ wrong. Recorder says 3,044’ (and I felt it!) vs. app saying 1,360’. I didn’t mind, because it is a beautiful home and really fun.  A good portion of the hike is on loose rocks. The lake is beautiful and the trail in the app gives you a nice wraparound some of the lake. The views on the way down are great, particularly at sunset.

September 27, 2020nice trail with a great view of the lake. started at 630 and summoned in an hour and a half. stayed for half an hour before heading down and didn’t see a single other person until i was almost halfway back.
September 26, 2020I left my hiking staff at the trail head on Wednesday, September 23rd. I made it at summer camp 45 years ago. It had a Yosemite badge on it. I went back the next day but it wasn’t there. If someone found it could you contact me at 530-521-8335
September 21, 2020The lake and the views are both equally breathtaking as Ice Lake! It is a moderate hike but has good amount of elevation gain in just 2 miles. It is a good preparatory trail for Ice lake basin trail. Everyone must do this hike!!
September 21, 2020Beautiful trail but super crowded :( Lots of dogs and dog doo around :( Overall, an easy hike - some steep and rocky parts closer to the top but my sever-year-old had no trouble at all. Dog owners - please pick up after your pups!
September 16, 2020Couple of icy patches and rocky areas but amazing views at the top. If anyone finds a green rope dog leash, congratulations it’s yours now! We seemed to have dropped it at some point

September 14, 2020September 13, 2020Hiked this trail on September 13, 2020 and it was amazing. There was a little snow on the trail that made it icy in spots on the way up. The lake is picture perfect and was well worth the effort. I would hike this one again!
September 13, 2020Bring spikes for your hiking boots. There are parts of the trail that are very icy and slippery. I had on Moab hiking boots and unable to get down safely due to ice.

September 4, 2020Be sure to cross the river to continue on the trail. We did not see the continuation of the trail across the river, but walked along the river and reached another trail that took is in the wrong direction and far away from the lake. The views were spectacular all around! Challenging hike in the end. Stunning scenery!
August 28, 2020Its 6 miles. Sooo worth it! Panoramic views, streams, wildflowers along the way. Gorgeous crystal clear lake at the top. We brought snacks and sat on the rocks to enjoy the lake. We used a 4X4 SUV to drive to the trailhead, but I didnt think it was bad. I think a small car would be fine too.
