Nice hike with a great view of Devil's Thumb. A little steep at first, but then levels off well.

Great trail. Quite a bit of an incline but nothing too terrible. Note that if you’re not from Boulder with a pass, you need to pay $5.00 for parking.

Nice easy trail. Very beautiful once you start to climb. We only made it about 1-1/2 miles with our kids (they are new to climbing). We just got done with our first 14er and realized we needed to train more. This trail is fun for all ages but if you want a challenge, this is not it.

We chose to do this trail early before the sun came up to catch the sunrise. It was perfect. Beginning of the trail is very open and wide but once you intersect the homestead trail it becomes more of a “trail” through the trees. Very beautiful and relatively easy. Great for everyone!

Good trail for families. Had a 7yr old in my shoulders for part of the time but she pushed through it. Mesa trail has pretty significant construction right now so is muddy. Should be even nicer when it's done! Would recommend Towhee instead of Mesa in the interim if you don't have a dog. Homestead was a great way to finish!

one of my favorite loops is to go up Homestead and down Town we. I'd say an easy moderate.

Short and sweet! Good incline at the start, nice run down the rest. Pretty views of the mountains.

tried to get to rattlesnake gulch in eldorado state park but was turned away because the park was at capacity (11am on a Sunday). did this trail instead and had a great time.
-two toilets at trailhead
-parking lot is tiny and full; we circled around twice between this lot and the one across the street and finally lucked out
-very little shade; bring your hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen
-we walked west on homestead up to mesa and also added the ~2 mile extra loop further west of the one outlined by alltrails. the hike up is a decent steady incline with almost no vertical steps. great to power walk to get your heart rate going (or jog, if you're in great shape)
-ended up hiking about 4.7 miles in a couple hours

Beautiful, easy hike close to Boulder on a very well maintained trail system. Very few hikers on the trails today (Monday at end of August), which is exactly how I like it. Lots of options to adjust the length/difficulty of your hike. I did a 7.5 mile loop and enjoyed this part of it the most. Will definitely return to do the Shadow Canyon trails.

Pretty, easy trail.

**Fee of $5 parking if you aren't registered in Boulder County**

Parking was a hassle as the lots are very small. Aside from that, easy trail, as others have mentioned the incline is very slight and easy to manage for beginners. Fairly busy area when I went--there was almost always another group visible either in front or behind on the trail, but still very enjoyable.

I did the standard Homestead->Mesa Loop.

Nice trail change your hike completely and I love variety.there are many other trails that intersect. Take another trail and your hike can change dramatically. And I love variety!

Nice day hike. We started with Homestead and took Towhee trail to get back to Mesa trail which takes back to the parking lot. It was easy and I think climbing up through the Mesa trail (as opposed to Homestead) will be a bit of a challenge because it was steeper and rocky. Parking is a bit of challenging so getting early is advised.

This is a fairly easy trail that takes about 90 minutes to complete. It has a very gradual incline which was great for me since I'm pregnant. There is still some snow on the north side but nothing that isn't easy to get past. There was quite a bit of traffic but not horrible. Also very dog friendly. I would not suggest this trail for summer as there isn't much shade.

Good 90 minute trail. Good beginners trail not to strenuous. Pet friendly and appropriate for young children.

Finished in about an hour. Pretty wildflowers, Boulder views, birds and rabbits- and the trail was in good shape. Easy to moderate. Not much incline, an easy evening stroll for us. Just a handful of people on the trail (on a Tuesday evening).

**Parking fee** If your car is not registered in Boulder County there is a $5 parking fee at this trail head which is just outside Eldorado Springs.

This trail starts off right by a creek that has easy access if you want to go down and walk around by the water. This trail is fairly easy especially if you go up the north side (mesa trail) of the loop first. There is a good amount of trail damage on the north side where all the water ran down during the flooding, but other than that the trail is in great condition. I'd say if you are looking for a quick loop trail this one is a great choice, with some cool views of devils thumb and the plains.

Fairly Easy/Moderate Trail With Beautiful Views Of Devil's Thumb and Overlooking Boulder

Great morning or afternoon hike. Took the Homestead Trail up and the Mesa Trail on the way down. Made it a little longer. On the downhill I walked the fire trail road which was pretty easy. Saw one black squirrel and one blue jay.

A fun hike, not too difficult but very little shade. Bring a hat and lots of water if you go in the summer. I had a 4- and 7-year-old with me and this was no problem for them! Enjoy!!

Very nice hike! Looped around to Tahwee for a round trip total of 2.4 miles. What a beautiful place

Great place for you and the dogs to get a good workout. Not too long, but will get your heart rate up (steep rocky areas). Time estimate is pretty accurate for recreational hikers or those starting out after a hiatus.
