Had trouble finding the trail from the north. Went to where the directions said the trailhead is, and found a cabin/campground rental place. The receptionist there said that you can't access the trail from the north. We were able to find the where the trail starts from the south though. You have to go up HWY 7, take a turn onto CR 82E and follow Cabin Creek Road about two miles to Pierson Park Road (which is this trail, I don't know why it's Hermit Park Road now,) and Johnny Park Road.
Forest service website says the south portion of the trail is closed, however we were able to access it without a problem. We only went about 4 miles up the trail before we decided to turn around though so I'm not certain where exactly the trail is closed. Hope this helped! :)
