Bailing off of Hwy 285 you ascend Hayden Pass. Gentle for the most part except right before the top of the pass. Dropping down the other side is pretty unique. Getting back on the pavement at Coaldale you will be on Hwy 50 for a bit. Turn south on Hwy 69. This will take you through Westcliff and to the Medano Pass entrance. Wolf Ranch is right near the exit for Medano Pass. Neat entrance and Buffalo Ranch. Medano climbs up and its one of the few passes that are treed to the top. Dropping down the other side there are quite a few water crossings. The sand dunes are fun to check out and if you ski or snow board it could be worth taking the old sticks up for a run.

I actually drove Medano Pass in Chevrolet Suburban 12 years ago. the sand dune portion was tricky in that vehicle. Looking forward to driving it in a RZR.

One of my favorites. Good Jeep trail with great views. Number of water crossings before dropping into Sand Dunes. We entered from Westcliffe side and then came back.
