New to Colorado and this was our first overnight trip in high elevation (8600ft). The weather was unseasonably warm during the day in the mid 60’s while temps dropped into the 20’s at night. The climb up going clockwise is very strenuous off-trail bushwhacking /scrambling. The trail is not officially marked so download the offline map as your guide. Someone has graciously stacked rocks (Cairns) in attempt to guide you through the strenuous accent. They are not always easy to find and often the next stack is perched atop a rock above you which requires mild climbing to see (nothing you need climbing gear for just a solid grip and stable feet). If your not comfortable climbing I️ recommend you do the “out and back” portion of goose creek instead. Never the less, the most rewarding hike we’ve been on to date!
