From Steamboat Springs Take Elk River Road (CR 129) about 29 miles north to where the pavement ends, just past the small town of Columbine Co. Take a right on FR 550 for 4 miles and then another right to FR 500, for a little over 2 miles to FR 505. After about 2 more miles, FR 505 veers off to the right, but stay straight onto FR 520 for another couple of miles. Road ends at trail head with places to park your vehicle.

3rd Time on the Hare Trail (#1199 Routt County). Six inches of snow the day before, so trail was wet/muddy in spots. Three miles in the trail intersects the 1101 (Wyoming Trail). From here turn right about 1/4 mile to where the views open up to spectacular sights south and east of the Sawtooth Range (Mt. Zirkel, Big & Little Agnes) . Would have given 5 starts but the trail is also has ATV access and ran into several bow hunters.
