Grouse Mtn Overlook Trail

This is not a moderate trail. It’s an easy one for sure! There is a stretch of about 800 feet that is pretty steep after you make the horseshoe turn, but that is all of the elevation gain of the whole trail. Really nice views!

Wowsa! The views of the collegiate peaks and the Sangre De Cristo Mtn. Range at the end of the trail were amazing. A beautiful unexpected surprise. If you are after a small trail with great views put this one one the list. @thegratefulhikers

Well worth the climb up. Keep going after the sign to get to the real overlook. Makes for a nice side spur if you are going on a longer hike. Note there are lots of hikes in the area. The numbers and maps can get confusing. Note 17 is a loop and doesn't meet up where it looks like it does on the map. Also everything other than this and a few other trails go Down First and then you have to Climb back up. That makes it very deceivingly easy hikes in and hard out.

Great little side trail if you are going to do any of the other hikes in the area. The hike up is not super steep and well worth it at the top. Keep going once you reach the high point of the trail. Every time I have been up there I have only had a few people to contend with. The trail is in good shape overall. I did it in hiking sandals without any issue. It is a climb, but I hesitate to rate it as moderate. I would be comfortable bringing flat-landers up with lots of breaks.

Quick steep trail with a great view at the top, would suggest it at the end of another trail.

Gorgeous views! The elevation gain is greater than listed here, but I don't have the stats. It's a must do if you are in the park.
