I went there for driving, and it was lackluster at best. Fun if you have dogs and want to walk.

They don’t allow dogs to swim in the lake, which is odd to me... but you can have your dog, they just can’t swim. They’re allowed to get in for a “cool down,” which is like one minute. Otherwise, good paddling. Won’t be back if my dog can’t swim though (he has a PDF).

Beautiful trail- slightly heavy traffic (it was a Saturday however).

Drove down to the reservoir just to see what was there. Looks to be great camping spots. Trail is easy to the point a car can make it down.

Great camping spots, but it does get busy during the summer. No facilities at all! Pack it all in and out. You can kayak on the lake, but I would suggest driving back around to the boat ramp to do so. I tried carrying two small kayaks up and down the hill leading from the campgrounds and it was really rough. Fishing isn't great unless you go all the way down to the south-west corner of the reservoir where south boulder creek dumps in, which is a long paddle.

Here is a PDF listing all the camp designated campsites.

Easy trail, reservoir was really pretty. Went early and saw no other day hikers only a few campers. Exposed trail , no real forest-covered walking. Great morning hike!

Very easy to get to the resivor when the trail is open. First time had a lot of ruts but they got filled. Got there in a little Mazda car the second time.

only thing hard on this trail is finding a fun offroad obstacle haha. smooth all the way to the parking lot where i found a honda accord had completed the trail i aired down for. there is one steep hill thats pretty long but pretty typical driveway in the foothills. at the end parking lot there is a gate and it seems to stop you about 90% of the way through the trail listed on alltrails. it does appear that the trail gets harder just after the gate but it can't be very long. anyway, very nice views of gross coming in, nice mountain views from up there and an easy trail that can be completed in just about anything. if you'd like to see some clips of this trail to get a feel or check out the other gross trail i have a video up at:

Stock Tacoma in the dark. Definitely not a hard trail. Moderate. Fun though, will go back when it snows.

More moderate than hard but a good trail for a short hike.

A very driveable campable trail that has some nice vistas and great access to Gross reservoir, we saw some hummingbirds, snakes and fish, overall driveable even wet in a stock 4x4, in low range.

Real fun. Not the easiest run but still very doable with a stock jk rubicon. Wouldn't do it in anything smaller. Not a lot to look at on trail. More of a fun off road trail to ride.
