Update: The trail grade on Rooney Trail has been changed with more switchbacks and extending the length of the trail (around 6.7 miles). The first mile and a half currently has ice or snow patches where traction is helpful. These sections are relatively short but treacherous. Weekends are busy with diversity of users: hikers, bikers, runners. If you are seeking solitude the first half of this route provides that but the second half is a busy part of the park. Prepare to share.

Only had time for a partial ride of this loop. This is a though trail. Quite rocky and a real challenge. I’ll definitely be back to give this trail another go when I have more time!!

Really close to Denver. More of a walk than a hike. There was no shade- but walking through the wildflowers was pleasant. I did the counterclockwise route and first 1/2 was better views of mountains and downtown skyline. Many friendly mtn bikers on bike half. My tracker said route was 7.2 miles.

Snow, ice, mud and wind that blew me over several times and poorly marked. Added an additional 2 miles due to GPS showing where a trail should be but wasn’t. Difficult to find actual trail several times. Will try again in less windy weather with no snow

Great network of trails right in town! First time on it so didn't know what to expect really. Rockier than expected, at least in some area's, but it made it interesting. Some nice steep portions to really get the heartrate up. Overall it was quite enjoyable!

Nice open trail. Beautiful views of the surrounding foothills and mountains. Very easy paths some rocky places but nothing too bad. Good mixture of uphill and flat areas. Nice hike without having to go too far from the city. Great day for it, is definitely a spring, fall, winter hike, no shade. Will be back again.

Good long trail. Ran in to a herd of 12 elk, and also saw a mile deer. Took part of the Rooney trail through the valley as well.

Beautiful scenery and saw elk out and about. Close to Denver which is nice and you will see the roads and cars driving around you for a good part of the hike
