Good distance, but can get kinda boring. I didn't think this one was too tough, but the Snowshoe Hair Loop was the best part. Don't forget bug spray.

Golden Gate Canyon State Park has multiple hiking trails. Everyday can be a new adventure. I highly recommend Horseshoe to Black Bear. Probably one of the best views you will see anywhere. Not that difficult of a hike. Make sure to buy your day pass at the visiting center. If you happen to be driving along the road heading towards your trail and come across a couple of private residences, keep are not lost. There are some individuals who do own land within the park. There is also hunting up here. I would recommend staying out of the hunting area during hunting season. Or just wear very bright colors. Have fun!!

We wanted 10+ miles so we decided to take the Blue Grouse trail to the Mule Deer Loop. The trail was fairly easy with a few inclines. You will go through meadows, Aspen and Evergreens. You will find a variety of flowers and mushrooms just off the trail for some great photos. The trails are marked very well and we only ran into approximately 8 people and it was a holiday weekend. It was a great hike except the storms move in very quick.

This is another great trail in Golden Canyon. I enjoy all of the trails in the park and I try to do one every year. This trail is a long one but one of the better hikes you will take in the park!

Golden Gate Canyon State Park may be Denver's best not-very-well-kept secret. Close to town and quite accessible featuring 36 miles of intersecting trails ranging from easy to moderate/difficult (with a tiny bit of scrambling on a couple), it's a great go-to destination for day trips when you want to get away but didn't plan enough in advance for a real trip into the mountains. You can always find something new in Golden Gate Canyon.

Families will appreciate the visitor center and the group of quick intersecting trails including a nature trail around the visitor's center and wildlife viewing. There is good trailrunning on the east, less-trafficked side of the park. Hikers and campers focus on the west and central valleys.
