Wonderful snowshoeing but be aware is a loop with upper flume to middle flume to Tom’s baby. We started gold run loop and what for a fence to the right and then you are going upper flume.
Fine enough! nice forest walk if you take the hiking trail, lots of bikers, cool old buildings.
Looks like really fun mountain biking path! (Lots of trees down though) Didn’t know they going in, still a good hike.
Easy and lightly trafficked trail. Missed a few turn offs but still fun. Nice fall hike.
Nice short trail in Highlands. Good for walking, but made for Mountain biking. Advise going clockwise if on bikes
A lot of variety well worth it, only wish that there was more nature trail instead of “roadway” at the last half.... but do it, you won’t regret it!
If you go a 1/2 mile beyond the loop on the dirt road part you can see old Preston ghost town which is interesting
First half - not so much. Active construction road. Second half down the flumes was much more secluded and pleasant
Another reviewer suggested going clockwise, starting with the dirt road, which we did. It was more of a climb than I was expecting since we are not used to the altitude. Along the way there are some mining ruins and a pretty stream. Just as we entered the Forest part of the trail, three dirt bikers went by, kicking up a lot of dust. I was glad we weren’t on the road the same time as them. Nice, quiet downhill hike in the woods. Saw only a few other hikers and mountain bikers. Hike was nothing spectacular but fine for what it was.
nice trail, well marked, easy to follow, up and down, challenging but not out of reach for a novice.
Little bit noisy from construction. This is a shared trail with bikers so make sure to stay alert.
recommend going clockwise - up the logging trail, then down the woods. we went the other way and it's a nice, mildly technical uphill through the forest, but then a fairly uninteresting downhill on the road. my six year old got round it on his first ever mtb ride, so I'd say "easy" is right. uphill might be hard work if you aren't accustomed to altitude. only saw two other cyclists, and a truck on the road @ 1000 on a weekday.
Great hike. Beginning is tough. It just kept going up and up. My Florida lungs were dying. Lots of snow on the trail which did not follow the map. Wear snow shoes. It got pretty hairy the last 200 yards. I sank waste deep without the proper equipment. March 11 2020
Great short hike. Took me about 45 minutes. Even beautiful in snow. Definitely check map when hiking. All kinds of lovely twists and turns. Will do again.
