Hiked solo on 9/2/17. This is a great hike, but does require quite a bit of off trail hiking and basic route finding. FYI that the trailhead directions posted here are not correct. You could reach Geneva Mt. from the Abyss Lake trail, but it require significantly more elevation, distance and bushwacking that these stats reflect. The more straightforward route is from Guanella Pass summit adjacent to the Bierstadt trailhead. The following intel is much more helpful that what AllTrails has for this hike:

the directions on here take you to burning bear camp ground... this is not the trailhead. the trailhead is just past or right before the campground as is the TH for Abyss lake. I don't want others to go on a goose chase like I did today. will have to come back and actually hike.

Lots of wildlife and wildflowers in July. The grass really set my allergies off though :( Follows a nice river and close to Geneva campground.
