Genesee Summit Trail is a 1.1 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Golden, Colorado that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is best used from April until October.
First off the trail is more than 1 mile. Some of the trail follows Genesse Mountain Rd & the highway, which I didn't like for the noise factor. Enjoyed the views on American Bison Trail & enjoyed the quick steep climb to Genesse Mountain Summit. Overall it's a nice quick hike close to home & I will come back when I'm needing my nature fix, but can't venture out too far into the mountains.
Nice easy outing near Genessee Park when the park is closed. Beware the trodden path! The snow has melted and re-frozen so it's pretty slick in some spots. Great view at the summit.
This trail is great but it's mislabeled on this app. There is a Genesee MOUNTAIN trail which is way more than 0.8 miles long that pretty much spans the entire park. Then, the trail this app describes is the Genesee SUMMIT trail. Don't get confused like me and waste half your day on the wrong trail.
Wonderful place to escape the city. Feel like you are miles away in the mountains. Beautiful! You may see wildlife here, as well as the bison herd seen from I-70.
