Gem Lake is a great little hike with some awesome free views of Estes Park. The hike starts just outside of Estes up Devils Gulch Road. Turn on to Lumpy Ridge Road and park in the lot. $10 Parking Fee.

Super fun w beautiful views of awesome and majestic boulders. The lake in 2016 was real low but in 2017 high full and beautiful.

Awesome trail! Not a regular hiker but still handled the trail fine, had to take periodic breaks as it does get steep at some points. Amazing views of Estes Park and the surrounding mountains. Would recommend to a friend!

Great hike, not too terribly difficult! Beautiful views!! Always remember LEAVE NO TRACE! Picked up a few pieces of trash on the way up! Keep her clean :)

If you only have time for one hike in Colorado- make it Gem lake!! it's worth it!!! we went in a group after the park rancher suggested it! it's scenic, steep and listed as Hard. Don't let that stop you; hike up at your own pace and stop if you have to rest... the views are incredible!! Enjoy!!

Very nice views along the way up to the lake and the lake itself is a great spot to rest and enjoy the views. Wouldn't rat it as difficult though, just pace yourself depending on where your fitness level is at.

I hiked up this trail on a beautiful Sunday morning with my girlfriend and came back with a fiance. It's called Gem Lake folks....lol. There are great views of Estes Park on the way up and on top. The lake is more of a pond with no fish. Also, do not wade around in the water too long because there are lots of little leaches. We also like the trail because dogs are not allowed.
