Hiking

Really beautiful views and extremely easy, great if you want to have amazing views but don’t feel like hiking long difficult trails to get there. Snow is melting, not too too slippery.

Do not have to pay for parking as it isn’t in the state park. Parking is on side of road so get there early to avoid extra distance. Trail is closed past the overlook. Great views and easier side of moderate for most of the hike.

Nice trail, pretty flat and wide most of the way. Totally clear of snow, no spikes needed

Great trail for kids and the dog. Lots to see. Conditions were great for our hike. A few icy patches but easy to walk slowly over or around on the part of the trail that had melted. We all had standard hiking boots. No extra equipment needed.

HikingGreat!

beautiful day. brought spikes but didn't need them. I took a short detour to get close to the water in Eldo, which was totally worth it. this is probably my new favorite spot. I'll be coming out here more often. it's also pretty relaxed, so a good option for folks wanting to show out-of-towners a good scenic trail

Every terrain: dry, wet, muddy, slushy, icy, snowy... went up at about 10:30 which was definitely icier than coming down around 14:00 (stayed at the top for a while, the hike does not take fours). Did not wear spikes. Overall was a nice hike. Crags outlook is beautiful to soak in.

Nice views, but the middle mile or so probably isn’t worth it. There was everything on this trail...snow, ice, slush, mud and even some rocks and dry stuff. Boots should be all you need for the worst of it though.

Sunday 3-7-21. Not much of a hike but great easy trail with beautiful views and some cool rock formations. I did an extra 1.2 miles round trip since I had to park at the state park entrance.

Snow-packed and slick in spots. Doable with regular hiking boots. Our kiddo was nervous by some steep spots, but was fine. Great views!

Awesome trail! Very windy with snow blowing today but the sun made it tolerable. Just bring proper gear and you’ll be fine! No cleats needed except maybe on the last section of the country road where it goes downhill. Fine cell service the whole time. Dog friendly. Good mask compliance. Loved the trail and the park. Will for sure be back!

We attempted to do the Continental Divide Overlook via Fowler and Rattlesnake Gulch Loop, but Rattlesnake Gulch Loop is closed until July 15th to protect nesting Golden Eagles. so we just did the Fowler Trail and will go back in the summer!

Love this trail! A lot of snow with some ice. I recommend spikes if you’re hiking to the Continental divide overlook, which I highly recommend!
