This is an easy drive, but I would want 4 wheel drive in a few spots. Most is OK for 2 wheel drive though. Great scenery as you'd expect from anywhere in Colorado's high country. My wife and I did this after camping overnight in Eureka s little campground. This was a simple morning drive up and back. Incredible story that goes along with the Sunnyside Mine up here too.

Easy road and cool ruins of an old mill. You don't necessarily need 4WD to get here. To go past Eureka to Animas Forks I highly recommend it though.

Starts off the Silverton-Animas Forks road @ Eureka townsite. goes up Eureka Gulch to an abandoned mining site. Great mountain scenery!
