Jeeped this one. The first part of Engineer Pass is fairly technical so it helps to know what you are doing. I highly recommend you not take stock 4x4 vehicles. Rent a proper Jeep or ATV. Once you get past the first part, it's actually a pretty easy trail, just some difficult switchbacks. The top of the mountain is epic.

We Jeeped up to Engineer Pass from Ouray. Parking at the pass at 12,800' , we "roughed it" to the summit in the snow, without proper gear. Dumb! The altitude got to some of us, Rhode Islanders are not used to heights over 810'...great views of the San Juans.
