It starts with a rough drive up the South Cottonwood Creek Road to several possible pull outs before Mineral Creek is crossed. The hike begins as a cross-country route up a broad ridge to where it intersects the Continental Divide Trail. Go south up the old lateral moraine and follow the trail to the top of the ridge about 12,700 ft. Wildflowers abound in July and August. From the ridge one can go east to a easy viewpoint or west up the ridge to Emma Burr summit, or continue south along the trail into Morgans Gulch.
