Elkhead Pass is a 8.4 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Granite, Colorado that features a river and is only recommended for very experienced adventurers. The trail is primarily used for hiking and trail running and is best used from July until September. Dogs are also able to use this trail.

Drive 19 miles south of Leadville on hwy. 24 to the Clear Creek Res.(Country Rd.390), which becomes FR. 120. Follow this good graveled road west for 7.8 miles to the Missouri Gultch Trailhead.

Elkhead Pass is at the end of Missouri Gultch, between Missouri Peak and Mt. Belford.From Elkhead Pass you have a great view of Mt. Harvard on the other side, Missouri Peak to the west and you can hike up to the east to the summit of Mt. Belford.
