The mileage is more like 12 miles from Echo lake to Summit Lake. It’s absolutely beautiful. If you take this route, the last mile is a difficult steep incline so save your energy and water for it.

Really pretty views the first half of the hike. Took us about an hour to reach the second lake. The only downfall was the trail was fairly crowded and there were several large groups of kids on the trail. If you're hiking for the solitude this probably isn't the right trail but it's a great one for views!
