First day in Snowmass and from IL, so we were concerned about the elevation gain. We thought the trail was pretty easy and the elevation didn’t bother us. We actually had to add some of the East Snowmass trail to make it a little linger hike. We hit the trial head about 8:30 and only saw a few people going up, but the trail was packed coming down. Be sure to cut over towards East Snowmass and cross the bridge over the river for some nice pictures. Epic views along the way and the sound of the creek is amazing. Be sure to look for the waterfalls at the bottom of the gorge where there is a bench to sit and look at the mountain peak.

Stunning views. With a trickling crick alongside, gorgeous roses and columbine - your eyes will be entertained. I also had the pleasure of seeing a baby brown bear and a gopher snake eating a bird! I agree with others on a rating of easy here and think the 4.2 miles is an overshot. It took me 90 minutes to complete. The one downside is several dog owners not feeling responsible enough to take their dog bags out with them. Pack In//Pack Out refers to other living beings you bring on the path as well.

Hiked this trail at sunset 10/9. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The views were awe inspiring and did not disappoint, never seen anything like it. Wanted to point out that the trailhead is hard to find and there really isn’t a parking lot. The trail is marked by a tiny sign that looks like a street sign, and it starts at the intersection of two streets - can’t remember the names but if you use the instructions from here, it’s at the last intersection before it says you’re there. We parked on the left in a patch of dirt just past the intersection (across from the business/apartments on the right).

Definitely more ‘Easy’ than ‘moderate.’ Our 4.5 yr old walked the 4.3 miles. Great views and overall great trail. Ends at the creek. New bridge went up yesterday, across the creek - super narrow and not good for kids to cross. (However this time of year - you can walk across creek without bridge!)

Great trail to run. Out and back it is about 3.3 miles. The trail ends at a river/stream around 1.7 miles. Great trail with lots of shade. Sorta crowded though.

Great snowshoe track. Flat and easy out to the bench about two miles. I got a ways up the ski run after the bench before It got too steep for me.

This was fun to combine with running the brush creek trail and a little of the oak creek trail for a full circle 6 plus miles.

We only made it out to the bench but it was very pretty. We had the idea to get there for sunset, but it was a cloudy day and didn’t see a great one. But it would be a good spot.

Best views are at the front half of the hike. The creek at the end is great for little kids. Mostly open.

You will cross some of the ski slopes. Gorgeous views. Very easy until you get to the bench with the overview then it starts to build an incline.
