First mile or so is on the road, after that the hike on the ridge is great and not very strenuous

Very awesome very nice! Only reason I dropped a star is because you can hear the cars on the interstate for the entire trail. Great views of Red Rocks Amphitheater.

Great little hike, not at all strenuous. Much of the path is paved and forms a horseshoe around the ridge. There are information placards along the way with information pertaining to the geologic formations found along the ridge. There is a well-marked trail on the ridge (unpaved) that offers stunning views of the area. Snakes are out now, so watch your step! We saw a pretty large bull snake while we were out.

Did not seem like a 4 mile hike, not even close. Good view though!

Paved road uphill. Went late in the afternoon before sunset and there weren’t many people. Enjoy!

The trail starts on a paved blacktop road. Near the top of the road before it curves to the right, take the wooden staircase up to the ridge. Great view of Red Rocks from the ridge. Very rocky and steep incline in some areas. Definitely a moderate hike if you hike the ridge.

Decent hike. Took my 3 dogs. The first quarter mile is a paved road, so beware if it is hot the pavement may not be great for them to walk on. The trail was a mixture of rocks and dirt, little shade, again be cautious of bringing dogs during the hotter days. Pretty views of red rocks, the other side was a view of the highway. Very few dinosaur fossils to see, I was expecting more but still pretty cool.

Better for hiking, a morning at Dinosaur Ridge is a chance to experience the natural history of renowned dinosaur quarries. Trail side displays tell details of the tracks, fossils, and other geologic novelties on the hike. The upper portion has steep segments, angled terrain and narrow routes that permit only an uneven running experience. Excellent views of Red Rocks Amphitheater and Park.

Seems dangerous for hikers and mountain bikers to be on trail at the same time.

Great trail, highly accessible. Easy paved road for the first half, the second half is beautiful. We took Zoro trail down and I don’t recommend from today’s experience, zoro is still very icy and muddy at the moment.

windy day. lots of bikers, but fun. cool views up on the ridge! asphalt road for the first bit, where you can see plaques showing fossils etc. once you get near the end of the first long incline on the paved road, you’ll see a wooden railing and dirt path on the right, follow that up the ridge!

Cool fossils along a paved road. We went up the Dakota ridge path to extend our hike. It was pretty but very windy. Lots of sand and slab rocks on the trail and looots of v speedy mountain bikers

my knees would rate as more moderate than easy, good footing, no ice, only met one biker on a Wednesday am.

First half mile or so is the paved road until you get to the staircase to take you to the Dakota Ridge Trail. Dakota Ridge is pretty steep and rocky and should more properly be labeled as moderate rather than easy. Windy up at the top today. Lots of bikers but they were polite. Good views of the front range and Red Rocks. No ice or snow at all.

The first stretch is odd as you have to walk up an old road. If you want the actual trail, take the wooden staircase toward the top of the road. It has some great views and is pretty friendly for any age.

This should be rated as moderate. There's some steep areas and rocks to climb up. The trail is off the road. When you get near the top there are steps to the right. From there there is a switchback goat trail. Lots of mountain bikers so be aware. I was told there are some icey areas further along the trail that we wouldn't be able to get past so we only went about half way up the trail before turning around. Great hike though. Don't forget sunscreen - there is no shade.

We had a wonderful time, thanks to the instructions below. This is not an all road hike. We parked in the parking lot Of the dino exhibit. Nice potties with running water at this parking lot. We had to walk over to the incljne to start the hike. When you are almost all the way up the main road, there is a staircase right before the portapotty with a sign that says DAKOTA GROUP and this will take you to the hike with incredible views. It is easy to miss because it is not marked “dinosaur ridge” but follow the map here. It is tricky/steep/rocky and have to pay attention to the mountain bikers zooming by, but we had a wonderful time. If you have a stroller, Stick to the road— it has nice views too.

I don't think this would be considered a hike. it's completely paved on a blocked road. However, if you are looking for a trail for young kids this is great.
