Perfect for fall foliage. Well shaded and follows a stream. Beautiful! We only hiked 3miles in.

Beautiful trail! Hard soles shoes & piles for me made a difference. Stopped at the creek due to time but it looked great for a little further!

Nice hike, but only had time for 3 mile out and back. Starts low without cover, then moves into Alpine terrain. Trail is well marked and trailhead is at Difficult campground. Bridge crosses wide river at onset and breaks from river about 1/4 mile in. Hiked mid summer. Saw some bear scat. Bring bug spray.

Only gave it 4 starts because I didn’t get to see the end of the trail. Was the first out there and have seen animal droppings and tracks. including bear and deer. Had to turn around because my family’s waiting for breakfast.

Great hike up to the 3.0 mile mark. Up to that point really nice blend of single track, nicely shaded trail and a river at the start. After 3.0 miles trees are down and it is very hard to pass or even tell where the trail goes. However, if you are looking for a shorter hike, could not recommend Difficult enough!

If you use the All Trails geo locater, you'll see the trail does go well beyond the first set of fallen trees. In fact, they increase in number all the way to the top, which is rather buggy and uninspiring. I got pretty scratched up scrambling over a huge series; I'd recommend turning back instead at the spot where it looks like the trail veers off to a waterfall--maybe four miles in. Also, I'd recommend poles too: The uphill is a two-hour slog, and the downhill is very steep and treacherous with loose rock.

Kind of an odd trail. Started out early, very shady the whole way . Do not think its 9.9 miles. About 3 miles in started having to climb over dead fall every couple hundred yards. Climbed over 20+ dead trees laying across the trail. Finally turned around less than 2 hours in. Ran into a local hiker on the way down she stated that when I got to the first felled tree the trail ends. So I guess I went too far, there was a trail. It was just very difficult to hike due to felled trees.

Great trail! First 2.5 miles a lot of up, up, up but very doable. Then it levels out mostly and you hike along the creek again which is beautiful! Some parts of trail are rocky so good hiking shoes and a pole help, especially on the way down.Highly recommend!

Shaded the whole way with a stunning river in the beginning of the hike. Vertical switchbacks lead to fantastic views higher up the mountain.

Great views. Good hike

Raging river at the beginning, but you can get to the first bridge if bush wack and get foot a little wet. After that, amazing. Zero snow the whole way. And of course, a great hike.

Wonderful hike. A great first hike in Aspen, to help acclimate. Beautiful views, forests and rafging water. Not too challenging but challenging enough. 6 ½ miles. Did not want it to end.

This should be one of your first hikes when you come to Aspen. The elevation is not too severe and the canapy coverage and the stream/river running through the majority of the trail is cooling and calming. This is a good trail to acclimate.
