This trail is rated as moderate, but if you do the whole trail, up to where it meets the Difficulty Creek Trail, I would say it's hard. If you only go 2.7 miles (out and back), you aren't doing the whole trail.

Perfect timing for seeing beautiful golden Aspen color. This trail was full of gorgeous views. Not sure where it ended. we went about 3 miles in to the other side of a big Aspen Grove. Trail was varied, a couple of spots we had to look for the trail. we only saw one other group hiking Such a lovely day.

Last mile to the trailhead is a narrow road, thankfully we did not encounter any other cars. This trail would be pretty during the color change as there was lots of aspens. Some of the trail was washed out also. We met up with the creek at mile 1, thought there would be more water. We only hiked about 1.3 miles and turned around.

Steep and slick (at least first half mile), borderline dangerous for kiddos (7 & 10) due to slippery ledges. Very tranquil though. I’ll return someday, as I’d love to complete! Many comments on the trailhead sign-in sheet reference lots of downed trees on upper portion and overall dilapidated conditions. We didn’t home high enough to witness firsthand though.

Disappointed in lack of mileage markers as it was pretty rugged in places. The stacked balance stones helped see the trail. Beautiful scenery with fun mining points of interest. Bald top made for a great turn around view!

Trail is a little overgrown in places, footing a little treacherous in a couple of places and not well marked in one place, but offers great views of the mountains, creek and some old mining equipment. Didn’t hike the whole trail, just in about 1.3 miles and then back out.

I really liked this trail, steady grades, by the river, quiet, flowers, and i saw a huge bear 2 hours in..... and then quickly opted to turn around.

Disappointing. This trail is in bad shape. Several washouts in the first 1.5 miles. view at the top is completely lost in the trees. I went off trail and found a nice overlook to the west.

We didn't do the whole trail, but walked part of it after taking the mining tour. Beautiful scenery. Check it out!
