Please note: There’s a $10 per car/$4 walk in fee for this trail. The entire trail is beautiful with views of the canyon and eastern plains that lead up to the historic Crags Hotel ruin which burned down in 1912. The sign with history of the hotel at the ruin site is definitely worth a read. The trail “ends” with a stunning view of the Continental Divide which has a lovely sitting-area to catch your breath and collect yourself before heading down. This trail is not too steep, but a nice, undemanding incline. The way down can be a little slippery due to dust and rocks. This is one of the few trails you can hike in the middle of the day and not be drained by the heat due to the numerous shaded sections. There is only one, slightly confusing section of the trail. When you approach the bridge there is no signage to tell you to veer right over the bridge.

Amazing overlook - definitely worth the hike up. The walk down is harder due to the gravel but as beginners, we took our time.

This trail is all uphill, and ends at nothing. It has some nice viewpoints, but over all I wouldn’t recommend it.

There’s a $10 per car/$4 walk in fee for this trail. Use the AllTrails maps to get to the trailhead marker and park. Trailhead is just to the left of the parking spots. Head up and then at the first split head right. We didn’t do the Rattlesnake Loop, and instead just went from the ruins up to the Divide and back down. The trail was rocky with a steady incline but came to a plateau at the top near the ruins and the divide. Shaded most of the way. Great views of the divide... the ruins are a few bricks and whatnot (but still cool). Note that there’s no official “Crags Ruins” trail marked but when you look at the map at the trailhead you can see the ruins noted off of Rattlesnake Gulch trail.

Great trail, I went clockwise around the loop Following Crags Ruins- rocky coming down!! Overall not heavy foot traffic but parking lots were full. Got in around 11 and 2 parking spots were left. Would definitely recommend for climbers and hikers.

Nice incline up the trail, it is in a state park so you will have to pay $10 for entry.

Beautiful hike with the noise of the river below. All uphill but a steady incline that is well with the views at the top!!
