Description
Waypoints (2)

Please note: There’s a $10 per car/$4 walk in fee for this trail. The entire trail is beautiful with views of the canyon and eastern plains that lead up to the historic Crags Hotel ruin which burned down in 1912. The sign with history of the hotel at the ruin site is definitely worth a read. The trail “ends” with a stunning view of the Continental Divide which has a lovely sitting-area to catch your breath and collect yourself before heading down. This trail is not too steep, but a nice, undemanding incline. The way down can be a little slippery due to dust and rocks. This is one of the few trails you can hike in the middle of the day and not be drained by the heat due to the numerous shaded sections. There is only one, slightly confusing section of the trail. When you approach the bridge there is no signage to tell you to veer right over the bridge.

Great trail but it's ivey so bring some shoe/boot treads. I wouldn't attempt these trails without some Exospikes or equivalent.

Hotel ruins were very underwhelming and Continental Divide overlook was just okay but the best part was off of the Rattlesnake Gulch toward the CD there were some sections were you could go up and get a much better view of the CD. The hike itself was moderately difficult and took you all over the park. A lot of climbers which was fun to watch.

Awesome. No crampons needed at this time as there were only 2 10-15 foot stretches of ice. Absolutely beautiful!

Great trail with a lot of shade. It was very misty out so I couldn’t see the divide but it was still a blast.

Trail is pretty rocky at the beginning and then smoothes out. Very cool exploring the Hotel remnants. Second overlook had great views and wildlife; bluejays, chipmunks, etc. Unfortunately there was no less than 15 doggy bags along the trail, please pick up your trash!! There is not some little gnome-train that swings by and picks up your dogs crap, pack in pack out...ugh.

Great!

The trail mapped out around 3.33 miles and took us 1hr 40min with some brief breaks along the way and a sit at the overlook. Beautiful scenery! The trails are a bit rocky so be sure to wear your hiking boots. No big scrambles to tackle, just a consistent incline on the way up.
